Special Olympics Virginia--Area 5 is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of persons with mental disabilities through a vast variey of sports in our local community. We rely on the generosity of the community for financial support as well as volunteer assistance. Each year, our organization must raise approximately $18,000 in order to be able to offer our year round training and competiton programs. All our staff, on our local level, are non-paid volunteers from our community, so all of the funds raised, go directly to benefit the athletes we serve here in our community. Money needed is obtained through fundraisers, grants, and donations from local businesses, organizations, and individuals. Want to help?
